Pedestrianised streets planned for new-look Bundoran

first_imgFunding has been granted to update and improve parts of Bundoran next year to develop its potential as a tourism ‘destination town’. Bundoran will receive a share of a €15.5million fund from the Fáilte Ireland Destination Towns Scheme to make itself more attractive to visitors.Plans include updating a number of roundabouts, pedestrianise three side streets down to the shoreline and deliver eye catching, themed signage and sculptures in the town. The project will also enhance the visitor experience at Fairy Ridge and Roughey Walk with viewing platforms, shelters and signage.Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin T.D. confirmed today that every county in Ireland will benefit and the first round of allocations, including Bundoran, will take place from January. With Fáilte Ireland research consistently showing that attractive towns and cities are key motivators for overseas holidaymakers coming to Ireland, the new scheme will provide funding to Councils to enhance public spaces to increase visitors and dwell time.Pedestrianised streets planned for new-look Bundoran was last modified: December 9th, 2019 by Rachel McLaughlinShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img
