According to multiple reports, Florida State quarterback James Blackman has entered his name.Blackman spent this past season as the backup for the Seminoles behind Deiondre Francois, making one start and appearing in four games. He completed 33 of 51 passes for 510 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.Since he only played in four contests, Blackman preserved his redshirt for 2018. As a true freshman in 2017, he made 12 starts in place of an injured Francois, completing 58 percent of his passes for 2,230 yards, 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.247Sports’ Brendan Sonnone broke the news of Blackman’s decision.I’ve learned that FSU QB James Blackman has placed his name in the NCAA transfer portal.More details here: https://t.co/i4y0RAF927— Brendan Sonnone (@BSonnone) January 16, 2019SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic also reported that Florida State wide receiver George Campbell and tight end Naseir Upshur have entered the portal.Florida State WR George Campbell, a former five-star recruit & TE Naseir Upshur, a former four-star recruit have entered the transfer portal.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) January 16, 2019Blackman, Campbell and Upshur could still elect to return to Tallahassee. Entering your name in the portal doesn’t lock in a transfer; it simply allows you the opportunity to communicate with other programs. However, given the fact Francois is returning to school in 2019, Blackman may be thinking he will be better served elsewhere.last_img
